Meet The Family

WELCOME!

Welcome to my chaotic family! I’m Holly (click here for my more personal stuff), and I micromanage my husband and four daughters in rural Northeast Ohio.

As a family of six we have a vast array of interests, including astronomy, geology, archaeology, cars, rockets, travel, computers, photography, woodworking, 3D printing, homesteading, crafting, homeschooling, and a whole lot more.

This blog (and the corresponding Instagram/Facebook accounts) are primarily used to keep a record of our half-assed homesteading journey and as a portfolio for our homeschooling adventures.

Unschooling Explorers

It’s hard to get away from the homestead, since the biggest hurdle is getting help to care for the animals when we are gone, but we do love going places! Our homeschooling is more like unschooling, where we learn as we live. The girls love learning by exploration!

The Cowgirls

The Husband

I can’t take all the credit for awesome, free-spirited girls.

Luke has his spot on the throne too! He’s my go-to guy for all the homesteading and home renovation projects, plus, he’s the teacher behind woodworking, robotics, and mechanics!

The pole barn on the property is lovingly referred to as “The Shop”, and that’s where the mad scientist laboratory of tools, parts, and miscellaneous mayhem can be found…along with my husband!

Why Pale Blue Homestead?

We love space and we love nature. As a family it is our mission to live our best lives, treating everyone fairly, helping when we can, taking care of animals and the environment, and never excluding anyone!

“...our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
