Socrates had it right! The 21st century has become an age of throw away technology. Our lives our full of stuff, and year after year we need the best new thing on the market, or an upgrade, or to keep up with our friends and family.
People, we are a family of 6. I have 4 daughters! The amount of clothing in this house is beyond ridiculous, and lets not even start on the toys, games, and crafts (or my husbands love of tinkering, which leaves it’s own trail of destruction).
My hope is to walk away from conventional. I know we will never have that picturesque living room with nothing on the entertainment center but a plant, everything painted in shades of white (we have 3 dogs and 2 cats inside, as well as the kids…), but I’d love to at least have less. Less stuff equals less clutter which equals less cleaning!
I want to focus on experiences with the girls. Filling their childhood years with adventures. The few vacations I had as a child, or the field trips taken in school, are the things that I still remember. The clutter of toys I walked over to get to my bed every night… well I remember there were toys, and some may hold a fond memory or two, but I don’t remember them all!
Along with the goal of having less in the house, another focus will be budgeting. Everyone deals with finances, and being a family of 6 living off of one income can become tricky at times.
I’m not saying I am the cleanliest person, or the most financial savvy person, but the categories that show up under the Frugal Living tab will be my attempts to reach my goals of less clutter and less debt.
