Geocaching and a History Lesson

When the girls visit Nana and Papaw in West Virginia, we usually meet half way in Marietta, Ohio. This time, we thought we’d try something different!

We visited Laurel Caverns in Farmington Pennsylvania, and found a Geocache! It is a memorial to 14 people who lost their lives in a plane crash in 1936. The tragedy of the crash is sad enough, but what makes it worse is the fact that the monument is largely forgotten. There are no roadside signs pointing to it, not even a path. It’s just a stone, in the middle of the woods, not far from a road.

Be sure to Google both the Caverns and the Sun Pacer crash. Lot’s of history there.
