We hit Canyon Rim Visitor Center, and took the short overlook trail to the observation decks (about 200 wooden steps to get down to the lowest deck).
The Center has a short movie to watch, so you become more familiar with the local history, coal mining, railroad infrastructure, and of course, the building of the bridge.
It also has a small gift shop, a museum filled with artifacts like railroad memorabilia, geology of the land, and local wildlife. We had a picnic lunch at their covered picnic tables (it had started to sprinkle), and watched a Blackhawk circle around multiple times doing drills.
There’s so many other trails to venture on, which I’m sure has even more gorgeous views of the bridge and river, but since I am in no condition to hike, we ventured a few miles North to another overlook of the river, Hawks Nest.
