Day 60: Homestead Cleanup

10:32 pm | |

Today we had a friend come over to breakdown our beehives. They died over the winter, and we hadn’t cracked them open yet to see what was going on.

Each hive has a medium and deep super full of honey. The pollen patties were untouched. They certainly had enough food. Honestly we think it was the cold that got them. Even with insulation and quilt boxes for moisture. Since we aren’t planning on bees again this year, our friend is going to bring his honey extraction equipment over this weekend and we’ll harvest honey!

We also had a few piles of sticks we caught on fire. Homesteading is a never ending cleanup process!

While watching the fires, we watched the sunset and the bats fly around.

A blurry bat. That’s Venus in the sky.

Stay safe! ☄🌟
