Yesterday was Juneteenth, and our local NAACP chapter held a peaceful march in the next town over, so even though we are in the middle of a pandemic, as one of the speakers last night said “If the pandemic doesn’t kill us, racism will.” So my BFF and I went.
They had amazing speakers, including the NAACP chapter president, a Reverend from the Baptist church (the oldest predominantly black church in our county), and even the local Jewish church skipped service to stand in and give words of support.
We didn’t bring the kids, because honestly we didn’t know what to expect, and after working all day, if we had to get out quick, it would have been hard with kids in tow. This was so well done, that if they organize another, we would definitely bring them.
In other news, I finished up my second week of college and my first exam!
Backtracking… I had Thursday off, and the Goodyear Blimp did a flyover of the local hospitals as a thank you to the staff working hard during the pandemic. We could see the blimp from the front of the house!
Hopefully we can use this weekend to catch up on a few things. I only have 100 pages to read this week! 😳
Stay safe!
